    Don McQuaid

    CEO

Don McQuaid is the founder and CEO of RTOWN Communications (originally Resort TV Network) and has more than 35 years in the sales, marketing, event and media industries.

Prior to founding RTOWN in 2001, Don spent 20 years organizing major events across North America and Europe, including World Cup FIS Ski Competitions, the inaugural Molson Indy, and the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. He has been responsible for securing corporate sponsorship as well as managing event sales, marketing, operations and productions for countless major international events.

In 1999, Don began researching and deploying the latest broadcast technologies in preparation for the launch of RTOWN. Having first joined the ski industry as an international competitor, Don gained a unique perspective of what an exceptional resort experience should be. He recognized that creating a means to offer resort guests up-to-the-minute information would broaden and enhance their experience. Thus, RTOWN was born, to service resorts across Canada. With this same vision, Don is taking resort information to the next level with the integration of mobile technology and new digital media. In 2006 RTOWN Communications and its partners were awarded a contract by New Media BC to test and showcase emerging mobile technologies during world class Olympic test events in Whistler.

Three years ago, RTOWN diversified its national digital Network with the addition of a national network of digital signage screens. Currently, RTOWN is focused on the convergence and integration of the "4 screens" that define the new media industry: television, public digital signs, personal computers and personal mobile devices. Don’s trademark is his ability to accurately anticipate media trends.

  • Bob Brant

    Bob Brant

    SALES MANAGER

Bob joined RTOWN Communications in 2005 when it was still Resort TV. Before joining the RTV team, Bob worked in print advertising, but when he became aware of the position at Resort TV, his immediate reaction was that this was the 'missing link' to achieving one of his main goals he couldn't attain in other advertising positions: reach visitors directly in their hotel rooms, while they are receptive to messages.

Now, 5+ years later, Bob has learned the power of video messaging and how it can convey a message with visual context and content succinctly and to make a strong, lasting impression, while Resort TV has evolved to RTOWN Communications with digital media options enabling clients to reach locals and visitors throughout Whistler and in the cinema, as well as Vancouver.

Bob is passionate about working with people, words and images. He has an immense respect for people in business and strives to serve and help them grow.

    OKANAGAN OWNER

While growing up in Olds, Alberta, Michael was inspired by action-sports filmmakers such as Warren Miller, Greg Stump, and RAP Films. He spent countless childhood hours observing his ski heroes, Glen Plake and Scott Schmidt, travel the world to exotic locales in search of adventure. Michael dreamt of one day living such a fortunate lifestyle. He quickly grew to love the adventure lifestyle and spent a decade pursuing careers relating to it: tourism, sales, forest firefighter, snowmaker, professional ski bum, and of course...television production.

With a television production career dating back to 1997and a Film/Video diploma from SAIT, Michael’s experience has equipped him with the skills required to meet the demands of the production industry. He started his television career at CityTV in Calgary, working in the station's control room and studio. From there, Michael expanded his production skills, working on various projects for television networks, including: CBC, CTV, Global, Sportsnet, and OLN. Living out his childhood dream, Michael spent 2001 - 2009 travelling the world as a producer, director, camera operator and editor for Ride Guide TV, one of the world’s leading “action-sports” television programs.
